I am a pillar.
I am always there, right where you left me.
It doesn't matter that the world has fallen apart around me,
Because I am still standing.
Sure, I'm full of cracks, chips, scars,
But I can't let them show, because if I do, I'll be replaced.
I'm no good if you expect me to come and get you when you're far.
If you leave, I will not chase you,
But I'll be here when you get back.
Ready to take on another emotional beating,
Just to make you feel better.
Unload on the pillar, because it won't fall,
Let it know how you feel.
Then walk away, leave all the bad feelings.
It's just another chip in the pillar, and surely it won't fall, right?

So go ahead, and chip away, because I'll stand,
I will hold up the world above me,
And make sure everybody knows how lucky they are to be up there.
Because where I am, I am a pillar,
And a pillar, despite being at the bottom of the world,
Will be there when you need it most.
No need for patches, because when it's time, you can discard me,
Replace me will a fresh one, and the problems are all solved.
Just remember to come and unload, lean on me,
Before I get taken away, because the pillars that are taken are hard to get back.
Besides, nobody would want me, why would somebody chase a broken pillar?
I show no scars, but my foundation is weakening.
Eventually it snaps, and the building won't always crumble around me.
The building stays up, if not a little sagging.
And then I am broken, and washed away.
Left behind, and discarded.
I leave no trace,
Because I am a pillar,
And someone can take my place.
